Testing a norm-based policy for waste management: An agent-based modeling simulation on nudging recycling behavior

The present study uses agent-based modeling (ABM) to examine the effectiveness of a nudge policy for improving recycling behavior. In our simulation, agents' behavior is computed by components Theory Planned Behaviour (i.e., attitudes, perceived behavioral control, social norms) and influenced other agents as well their surrounding amount waste in area). based on real data from Taiwan community district, confirms realistic trends demonstrates usefulness reliability ABM method management policies. An additional step simulation was manipulate test effect norms. Results showed that increases activity, but predominantly low scenarios. This suggests nudges, form norm-based policies, can be an effective solution enhancing people's under specific circumstances.
